― Life-Saving Seminar was held ―

We invited an Ambulance Office of Hirakata-Neyagawa Fire Department as Instructor and had a seminar of Life-Saving with AED (Automated External Defibrillator).

Many staffs from each Division participated and learned Artificial Breeze, Chest Compression, and Usage of AED etc for 3 hours. Recently AED has been installed in several places such as Public Facility, Sports Club, and Airport etc. However, it is still hesitating to use it for real.

We learned from this seminar how to provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation using AED until the arrival of ambulance, which can rescue people's lives by performing an appropriate measure in a short time and can increase the rescue effect & the rehabilitation rate.

In the training, we realized that it is not that easy. We need to be more physical capacity to provide substantial artificial breeze & chest compression until AED becomes effective, so that you need to ask other people's assistance. Meanwhile, I am very impressed with our Heavy Machinery Installation Division staffs' body strength.

Actually I (the writer) happened to see the elderly lady fainted on the next day of the seminar was held. But, I could not do nothing but just standing there. I realized that, even if I could perform it in the seminar, it is still difficult to do it properly for real. Thus, I strongly feel that such a skill can be acquired by repeated trainings in Life-Saving seminar.
